Why does Apple stop supporting older devices?

Apple has its own terms and policies of excluding a few older iPhone devices from the latest software upgrade is well-established. The brand standardly supports its device with new software updates for about 5 years. The reason behind this exclusion is just to maintain optimal performance. Whereas the older iPhones once were in power supreme, they unfortunately no longer have the necessary processing capabilities to support all the latest iOS 18 features.

Here’s Some Key Reasons Why Apple drops Support For Older iPhones models

The first reason the brand stopped supporting older devices is the Hardware limitations because as technology progresses, newer versions of iOS many times require more processing power, better graphics capabilities, or other hardware features that older iPhones lack. The second one is Software efficiency. Obviously, the older device has low software efficiency as compared to the latest OS. The next is security, older models may not have the necessary hardware to support the latest security features, making it stronger to confirm their security with the new iOS version.

Another reason is Encouraging upgrades, Apple also, like any technology brand, wants users to upgrade their devices on a regular basis. By limiting iOS updates to newer models, they aim to encourage users with older iPhones to upgrade to access the modern features and improvements. The last one is User experience, it also plays an important role because new iOS versions are designed to take advantage of the increased processing power, larger and higher-resolution displays, and various other advanced features of the newer iPhones.

What should I do if my device is not eligible for iOS 18?

Sad to relate, if your iPhone device is not eligible for the forthcoming iOS 18 then you are recommended to replace your device with the upgraded handset, because if you are not eligible to get a newer OS version, then your device might not run perfectly fine anyway, also there are high chances to face bugs and security related issues.
