7 New iOS 17 Settings You Need To Turn On

#1 Auto-delete Verification codes sent via text or email

It’s the most interesting and useful feature within iOS 17, allowing users to delete certain verification codes and passwords automatically. As a result, these messages will not create litter in your inbox and can automatically vanish.

Although you can delete them manually one by one, leading to a very lengthy process, with the latest iOS 17 update, it gets easier to remove all the verification codes automatically. Just head to Settings >> Passwords >> Password options and finally tap on the Clean Up Automatically toggle to turn it on. Turning on this setting will not create any mess in your inbox, and all your verification codes will get deleted automatically once you view them.

#2 Share Passwords with whom you trust

Another new and useful setting that has arrived with the iOS 17 is the Password sharing feature or Family Sharing feature. This feature allows users to create a family group of trusted contacts so that they can share their important passwords and passkeys across devices. Furthermore, users can easily share their passwords as well as passkeys for shared media accounts, bills, credentials, financial applications, and more with the people who have been added to the group. Also, each person within the group can easily access and add someone to the group and can change passwords that are shared within the family group. Here’s how to do that:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

#3 Shooting ProRes videos with your iPhone camera

With the iOS 17 update, you can record and edit videos in ProRes using the iPhone camera, which offers higher color fidelity with less compression within videos. The ProRes mode is available on all cameras, including the selfie camera. However, ProRes mode is not supported in certain modes like Cinematic, Time-lapse, and slow-motion. In addition, ProRes videos result in larger file sizes as compared to normal video shooting mode.

To set up ProRes mode,

  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Camera.
  • Then select the Formats option.
  • Finally, tap to turn on the Apple ProRes.

Recording ProRes mode through the iPhone camera

  • Open Camera, select Video mode, then tap the ProRes Off button to turn ProRes on.
  • Tap the Record button or press the volume buttons to start recording.

When recording with the rear Camera, you can pinch to zoom in or out, tap .5x, 1x, 2x, 3x, and 5x (depending on your model) to switch between lenses or tap the selector Touch and hold, then slide the dial for more precise zoom control.

  • Tap the Record button or press the volume buttons to stop recording.

#4 White Balance on Camera

iOS 17 provides an interesting way to lock white balance settings while you are shooting videos from your iPhone camera. While this setting is locked, your iPhone camera will not make any changes to several color hues that appear on a subject when you move between scenes and lighting conditions. In the conditions where you wish the white balance settings to remain the same throughout the video, you can easily lock it.

To lock the white balance inside the iPhone camera,

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Inside the Settings app, scroll down and choose Camera.
  • Now tap on the Record Video option.
  • Then tap on the Lock White Balance toggle to turn it on.

#5 Live Voicemail in iOS 17

With the Live Voicemails in iOS 17, you can see a real-time transcription of the message that someone leaves for you while speaking, providing you with an immediate context for the calls. In case you want to resolve this, you can pick up the call while they are on the line.

Turning Live Voicemail on or off:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Then select Phone.
  • Now, hit the Live Voicemail option.
  • Finally, please tap on the Live Voicemail option in order to turn it on or off.

#6 Airtag sharing

With the new iOS 17 update, Apple has introduced a beneficial new feature, which allows users to share their respective AirTags with others. Sharing an AirTag can be a precautionary measure as it ensures the safety and security of an individual. For example, parents can track an AirTag over their child’s backpack in order to ensure their safety.
